Geezers will love these books

Retirement Homes Are Murder by Mike Befeler.  I bought this on Amazon Kindle just before I boarded a flight to Portland, Oregon from Maui.  $4.99 only.  It's a mystery but I was laughing and chuckling the whole way.  You'll enjoy the main character, a crotchety octogenarian named Paul Jacobson. You can get this in a paper edition or on Kindle.

Retirement Homes Are Murder (Five Star Mystery Series)

Resurrection Day by Brendon DuBois.  This is one of my favorites. It's now 1972. Washington, D.C., is a radioactive crater after a Cuban Missile crisis fiasco.  DuBois creates a sobering and imaginatively detailed vision of an America that has been crippled by tragedy. One of DuBois's many brilliant touches is an underground of diehard Kennedy supporters who scrawl the graffiti "He Lives" on every available surface, because they believe that JFK was not only innocent, but is still alive and broadcasting from a pirate radio station. Cohesively plotted and smoothly written, steadily exciting and rife with clever conceits, this is what-if thriller fiction at its finest.

Resurrection Day

Time on My Hands by Peter Delacorte.  This is one of my all-time favororite reads.  You'll have a blast as a time machine takes you back to Hollywood when Ronald Reagan was a struggling B-actor.  There's a mystery, there's suspense, there's foreign intrigue and you will wish that Delacorte had written a sequel.  You can buy a used copy for just a penny (plus postage) on Amazon.com.  Just click on the title below for more info.

Time on My Hands

Snowbird's Blood by Joe L. Hensley.  Charlie Cannert is a geezer with incurable stomach cancer.  That alone should turn you off, right?  But, Charlie leaves Chicago for Florida in search of his wife.  She's been down there looking for a place for them to spend the ending days, but has disappeared.  Charlie is a former Viet Nam tunnel rat and Chicago cop and he descends on Florida like an avenging (but ill) angel.  He goes after con men who prey on the retired.  And he wins those battles.  Click on the title to read more.
